Me and my Shadow

Ok then, since I first played with DC Infinite Crisis, I fell in love with the shadowpact. Yet looked at them though, and thought “It’ll never work”. They had lots of ways of burning their endurance, but nothing really that could help in finishing a game in their favour. Yet they still seem like they could be fun. Now in recent sets, a few fun little tricks have emerged.

Mary Marvel

This crazy little chick has been popping out of the woodwork in many a stall deck. That nifty little substitute that she has, made a stall to Captain Marvel easier on an uncomprehendable(so I may have made this word up) level.

Many a deck now just has a normal stall feel to it, followed by a substitution of this little lady on turn 8, Which allows Captain Marvel to be loyal and true.

This was a very neat trick at first, but now it is just expected, so out this goes.

The Conclave

This card also emerged victorious in ShadowKnights by Squire of the Ring has Chosen. The deck is control, with plenty of negation, running the Conclave, Problem Solver, Cape and Cowl and the powerful BGYT? this pretty much enables the ability to negate lots of the opponents key plot twists. Running the Hook-Up also allows the player to mill their deck for almost all of the cards that are needed in the deck.

For any information see Episode 25 of the Ring has Chosen

Conjuration

This card at face value, is pretty crap. 15 endurance for a resource point, which isn’t bad. But it isn’t worth it, because you have to think of what you can get for 1 extra resource point, and what turn is the best turn for the conjuration of the resource. Then it emerged that you need not be stuck with the conjured character, for substitution is the answer. So then, what would be the best substitute character available, that would be worth the effort? Numerous characters are worth the loss. Most notably, the Prodigal Herald, and the Strongest on there is. With these characters, could some serious damage be done. This is not even a particularly hard piece of jank to pull off. All that is needed is a little time and effort into building a list, after which it should be a laugh riot all the way.

Wha?

Why is any of this relevant? Well, I was casually looking into making a list for the conjuration deck, when I stumbled upon a beauty. A brilliant card? Yes, one that I have used before? Yes, then why didn’t I think of this card? Well, in my defence, why in the name of shazam would I think of this? Completely off team and it contrasts with my primary 6 drop in the deck.

So then, what is the card you ask. Well, you will have a to wait a little longer. Though I am guessing it will soon become obvious to you.

So, when building the deck, a few things have to be considered. Consistency, consistency is one of the main problems faced when using a deck such as this. So the early turns are very very important to this deck. Which is why the early cards in the deck may not really give that much of an insight into the game play of the deck. This is because they are all discard bait or tutors for the most part. This helps to make the deck more deadly in the later turns.

The key cards in this deck, will most likely be pretty self explanatory once you figure out the deck, If you haven’t already.

Madame Xanadu - Xanadu can help to get you one of a few cards. Though her primary fetch will be for a Mystical Binding, to ensure the games longevity.

Amadeus Arkham - To help to fetch you a location or two, obviously your team-up is important. Or possibly an Oblivion Bar to gain you a little endurance.

The Joker - A mid game mulligan is pretty darn useful if I don’t mind saying.

Witchfire - Gaining endurance is so useful it is practically unreal in this deck.

Zatanna - Paying 3 endurance for a card is fair. In this deck? cheap as chips.

Mikhail Rasputin - With Zatanna, paying 3 endurance for a +1/+1 counter is fine. Hell, it’s practically makes me happy.

Magical Lobotomy - Well, you never know do you? With bizarro on the prowl with his little sapien buddy, this card may well be what is needed. It can also be used for a simple pump.

New Baxter Building - This card, in combination with Beside Myself, and various gems, will allow for massive card draw.

So then. As you have guessed, insanity it is.

I cannot claim that this deck is meta defining, I cannot say that it is top tier. What I can claim though, is that it is a hilarious take on an insanity deck.

What insanity decks have you made?
