Decking…

So, I promised I would give you my list. This is the very very rough first preliminary draft. I have no idea how it will work yet.

1x Mr. Mxyzptlk, Troublesome Trickster
4x Manhunter Clone, Non-Unique * Clone of Paul Kirk
2x The Riddler, Riddle Me This
2x Lana Lang, Manhunter Sleeper
4x Hope, Amazon Guard
2x Prankster, Oswald Loomis
3x Kate Spencer Manhunter, Vigilante Justice
3x James Jesse Trickster, Giovanni Giuseppe
4x The Wizard, William Zard
4x Poison Ivy, Intoxicating
1x Fatality, Okaaran Warrior

4x Funky’s Big Rat Code, Team-Up
4x Enemy of My Enemy
4x Straight to the Grave
4x Unnatural Selection
2x The Fall of Oa
4x Plans With Plans
2x Mind Gem
3x Slaughter Swamp
1x Avalon Space Station
1x Soul World
1x Birthing Chamber

This is the rough list, trying to all round deck your opponent mostly with Hope and Funky’s Big Rat Code. Sadly I decided a more effective way to go about this deck last night.

This again is just concept, but I am thinking about using the Jackal/Floronic Man combo with Fall of Oa. Though since it involves so many teams I am a little unsure as to how to go about it. I am thinking that the best way of doing it will be a shit load of one drops and multiple man to mutopia it all in one.

Hopefully I will have a list up by tonight.

Hmmm… a deck destruction deck. Now THERE’s an idea. Say - didn’t the guy who used to write that column Breaking Ground have a pet deck that focused on milling his opponent. If he were here right now - which of course he isn’t - I’m sure he would say something like this:

Cards that you are playing (or were suggested to play by others):

Manhunter Clone - The backbone of the deck. Not only is it one of the better mill cards in your deck, it provides the crossover capability for Secret Society and Underworld.

The Riddler, Riddle Me This - Good, but not as good as I had originally envisioned. Two copies is probably just about right.

Trickster - Very important to the deck - almost as much so as Manhunter Clone.

The Wizard - Just plain bad, and really kind of pointless once The Fall of Oa hits play.

Hope and Prankster - Inspired! I always considered playing Prankster, but couldn’t really justify the Revenge Squad splash. Hope makes it more than a splash.

Lana Lang and Kate Spencer - Meh! They’re okay, but they’re definitely outclassed by The Riddler and Prankster. Better to simply play more copies of them.

Poison Ivy, Intoxicating - In theory, she should be amazing. However, I’ve been having consistency issues with her in the deck (since I had to take out Poison Ivy, Deadly Rose).

Overpowered and Unnatural Selection - Not as good as you would think. Both cards force you to play aggressive in a deck that relies more on disruption.

Plans Within Plans - Interesting choice. Seems like it could be good, but the replacement could potentially screw you. Maybe solve that problem with some Terraform locations.

Cards that you SHOULD be playing:

Mad Hatter, Mad as a Hatter; Deadshot, Dead Aim; and Scandal - The free Secret Six characters are good for extra milling. More importantly, they provide you with the ability to use Scandal to fetch your ongoing plot twists.

Manhunter Giant - KOing your own characters may seem like folly, but he’s often the card that will give you enough of a push to achieve a turn 5 or 6 deckout. Besides, with Deadshot, his effect isn’t much of a problem (since you can simply bring Deadshot back into play over and over again).

Mikhail Rasputin, Age of Apocalypse/Ocean Master - Okay, so you’ve managed to deck your opponent and put all of the cards in your deck into your hand. Now what? In order for the deck to work, you need a viable endgame strategy. Either of these characters can give you the win condition that you need for your deck. Mikhail is obviously more efficient, but Ocean Master comes in a turn earlier (which can actually be quite important).

Reality Gem - Part two of your endgame. Once your opponent has no deck, you can start nuking their resources with Reality Gem… AND THEY CAN’T REPLACE!!! This is annoying off initiative, and absolutely devastating on initiative. Bonus: By equipping on characters with Evasion, you can use Reality Gem more than once a turn.

Last Stand - You will need some kind of defensive play to keep your opponents from completely running over you. With Manhunter Clone and Trickster, this deck can actually support Last Stand quite nicely.

Anyway, those are just some friendly suggestions for your experiment. Please keep us updated on how your deck develops.

Love the blog… keep up the good work!

Oops… I meant that Manhunter Clone provides the crossover capability for Secret Society and MANHUNTERS.

Stupid typos…
